What Are The United States Fattiest Foods?
Dec 09, 2022 By Nancy Miller

Typical American cuisine has put on a few more pounds in recent years, like the average American. While some states have earned more positive health reputations than others, no state is entirely innocent regarding foods with excessively large serving sizes, high-calorie counts, or high-fat content. If you want to try local delicacies on your next road trip, go easy on the serving size.

Alabama: Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf

You might guess that the bacon-loving south, which has the second-highest obesity prevalence in the country, would also be home to some fatty villains. The meatloaf wrapped in bacon by Greer's Market's Chef Kevin Layton in Mobile is delicious.

People want it every week, and he told WKRG News back in 2008. Ground beef, onions, bell peppers, celery, eggs, bread crumbs, and spices are shaped into a loaf and wrapped with bacon to create this dish.

On average, there are about 14 grams of fat in a 3-ounce serving of 80% lean meatloaf. Incorporating bacon into your diet will contribute 3 grams of fat per slice.

Alaska: Eskimo Ice Cream

A famous native delicacy popular today is akutaq, often known as Eskimo Ice Cream. When the men returned with a newly slain polar bear or seal, the women traditionally produced a batch of the frozen dessert.

Traditional recipes called for caribou, moose, bear, seal, and fish meat and fat; current versions are often cooked using Crisco. Calculating how much of this national delicacy will be needed is only possible by knowing the serving size.

Yet, think of this: On average, there are 91 grams of fat in a serving of reindeer fat. There are just 7 g of fat in a version made with fish, berries, and seal oil.

Arizona: Quadruple Bypass Burger

The Heart Attack Grill in Arizona is a shrine to fatty foods that takes the state's love of them to a new level. Customers that weigh more than 350 pounds eat gratis. At least the people behind the Quadruple Bypass Burger aren't trying to hide the fact that it has the potential to be quite unhealthy. The four patties add up to over 60 grams of fat, which is close to the maximum of 65 grams that the USDA advises for the average woman eating 2,000 calories daily.

Arkansas: Catfish

Frying everything is a southern speciality. Arkansas catfish is a classic choice for a southern fish fry. Considering that another southern fried classic, are commonly served alongside this dish, you will surely catch a lot of extra fat along with your fish. The meal is "fake-fried" in the oven, yet each serving still has a hefty 25 grams of fat.

California: In-N-Out Burger Double

It's well knowledge that Californians enjoy In-N-Out Burger and work out regularly to maintain their toned bodies and six-pack abs. This West Coast fast food restaurant is famed for its use of fresh ingredients, but their Double should also be famous for having nearly twice as much fat as a McDonald's Double Cheeseburger. The 23 grams of fat in a Double Cheeseburger from McDonald's is also realistic.

Colorado: Jack-N-Grill's 7-Pound Breakfast Burritos

Despite having the lowest obesity prevalence in the country, this mountainous state is also home to one of the largest burritos in history. The challenge of finishing one of Jack-N-7-pound Grill's breakfast burritos was highlighted in a Man v. Food episode on the Travel Channel.

Without even including the fat in the cheese and chilli, only one pound of ham and twelve eggs have approximately 100 grams, which is about double a woman's upper daily allowance for fat.

Connecticut: 2-foot-long hot dog

Doogie's, a hot dog stand in Hartford's suburbs, was also featured in Man v. Food. The hot dog is a Connecticut staple and a popular food item in more than twenty-four different locations around the city of Hartford. Doogie's 2-foot-long hot dog with a half-pound extra toppings is the ultimate diet-buster.

Bacon, onions, peppers, chilli, cheddar cheese sauce, and a two-foot-long pork and beef hot dog on three buns. About 24 grams of fat, 10 of which are saturated, may be found in a typical foot-long hot dog. That's double what this is, topped with bacon, chilli, and cheddar cheese!

Delaware: Deep-fried pastry

Like the popular Chinese snack, crab Rangoon, a deep-fried pastry appetizer packed with crabmeat and cheese, has gained popularity in the First State. Cooked crab or spices, and frying oil are typical ingredients.

Though crab is naturally low in fat, several popular crab recipes call for high-fattening ingredients like butter and mayonnaise. Richer recipes can include as much as 20 grams of fat per serving, while a single puff might have anything from 3 to 8 grams.
